The National Acceleration Strategy
for Quantum Technologies
The Quantum PEPR represents the upstream part of the national acceleration strategy dedicated to quantum technologies, announced in January 2021 and funded to the tune of 1.8 billion euros.
This national strategy is designed to guide the France’s choices in six priority areas: quantum computers scaling up, quantum simulators and accelerators, quantum sensors, post-quantum cryptography, ultra-secure quantum communication and enabling technologies: cryogenics, isotopes, lasers, low-noise electronics, cabling, etc.
The national strategy is designed to meet the many strategic challenges facing the quantum sector. It therefore includes actions in favor of research, industry and training. The foundation of such a strategy in the structuring of French forces in the field and “enabling” technologies is also necessary for the implementation of future quantum systems.
The Quantum PEPR was the very first program to be set up as part of the strategy, and lies at its heart. It also seeks to ensure strong, ongoing interactions with other programs that are more downstream or related to enabling technologies.
