Igor Ferrier-Barbut is a CNRS researcher at the Charles Fabry Laboratory (LCF, CNRS/Institut d’Optique Graduate School). He and his team are working to create devices capable of storing or transforming quantum information carried by light. He is also involved in PEPR Quantique via the QubitAF project, which aims to develop the potential of cold atom platforms.

As part of the Quantum PEPR program, we are interested in how a set of identical atoms interacts collectively with light. These sets are experimentally produced by laser cooling, then individually controlled by optical tweezers. We aim to understand the quantum state of an atomic system as it interacts with its environment, absorbing and dissipating energy in the form of photons.

Christopher Bäuerle,
ERC Advanced Grant 2024

Christopher Bäuerle is CNRS Research Director at Institut Néel and coordinator of the PEPR Quantique project eQubitFly, aimed at developing a new quantum architecture by exploiting electronic flying qubits. He was awarded the ERC Advanced Grant 2024 for his ULTRAWAVE project, which aims to produce ultrafast electrical pulses using advanced terahertz technologies. The aim is to pave the way for unprecedented quantum manipulation.

In the eQubitFly project, we are developing the first quantum nanoelectronics platform dedicated to the creation, manipulation and detection of propagative electronic excitations on time scales down to the picosecond. Through pioneering research into the generation and manipulation of ultrashort electronic wave packets, the project aims to achieve the ambitious goal of realizing high-fidelity flying charge qubits and demonstrating their entanglement. No work illustrates the potential of quantum nanoelectronics not only for technological applications, but also for probing the very foundations of quantum physics.
